David qualified to practice as a Certified Accountant in 1975. His initial training was within a professional accounting office in Watford. He then moved into industry, working first for an independent airline and later taking a post as group financial controller for a listed public company.

After winning a Jubilee Scholarship from The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, he completed an MA in Accounting and Finance and went on to join the International division of a major UK corporation as Consolidations Manager.

A desire to return to his professional roots and a wish to stay in touch with, and to help, real people with their tax and accounting problems led him to set up his own accountancy practice in 1979. In 1989 David took over the firm of Jonathan Hicks & Co; the following year Colledge Redfern was formed.

David spends his spare time helping his wife, Angela, who is a livestock farmer. The Colledge's have two daughters and three sons, one of whom, Jon, works in the practice.

Alan has been a chartered accountant for over forty years. For the first ten years of his career, he worked as senior auditor for one of the big six accounting firms and then as Company Secretary and Financial Controller for an International group of management consultants.

Alan  has a number of clients abroad and travels regularly throughout Europe and the Middle East. He has always used his accounting skills, not only for large companies but also for charities and churches, which are his specialities.

Outside office hours, Alan is a performing musician who has sung in choirs and played viola in orchestras in St Albans. He holds a number of positions as Hon. Treasurer for voluntary groups. Alan's wife, Joyce, is a Senior Midwifery Manager. The Redfern's have two grown up children, Ian, a chartered surveyor and Kristina, a physiotherapist.   

Since joining Colledge Redfern in 2008 she has been working on many different assignments, varying from audits and company accounts preparation through to personal and company tax.

He has a great deal of experience with a wide variety of clients and an extensive knowledge of personal and company tax issues. In addition to this he is very interested in IT systems and current technology developments.
